The yacon is a plant originating in the Peruvian Andes that is currently experiencing a growing demand in the market for natural products nationally and internationally because of its enormous potential culinary and medicinal.
The yacon has a low caloric intake, providing 54 kcal per 100 grams of edible portion is therefore an ideal supplement to diet. It is also an important source of minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, copper, manganese and zinc, and vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin C and retinol. Yacon in the composition of the sugars found mainly in the form of oligofructanos, with very low glucose, phenolic compounds with antioxidant activity, terpénicos compounds with antimicrobial activity, with Flavonoids and antitumor activity.
The Oligofructanos of yacon are within the group “Prebiotics.” These sugars are not digested by human enzymes and are transported to the colon where they are digested by microflora intestinal species, particularly Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, which are indicators of a balanced intestinal flora.
We recommend eating 10 to 15 ml of extract ½ hours before meals.
